1 Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using The PDF Lab (accessible at www.thepdflab.com), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms") and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree to all of these Terms, you may not access or use our services.

2 Client-Side Execution & Data Processing

The PDF Lab is built with a privacy-first architecture designed to protect your sensitive documents:

Everyday PDF Tools (100% Client-Side) Standard PDF operations (e.g., merge, split, rotate, organize, compress, protect, sign) execute locally in your web browser. Your files are never uploaded to or stored on our servers.
AI & Server-Assisted Tools Features requiring advanced machine learning (e.g., AI Summarize, Translate PDF, Chat with PDF, PDF to MP3) transmit document content securely over 256-bit encrypted connections to process your request. Temporary files created on our server during processing are automatically deleted after processing.

3 User Rights & Document Ownership

You retain 100% ownership of all rights, titles, and intellectual property in documents uploaded, converted, or processed via The PDF Lab. We claim zero ownership rights over your documents, images, or output files.

4 Acceptable Use Policy

When using our service, you agree NOT to:

  • Upload or process illegal, infringing, defamatory, or harmful content.
  • Upload files containing computer viruses, malware, trojan horses, or malicious code.
  • Attempt to bypass security features, rate limits, or account quotas.
  • Use automated scripts or bots to overload or disrupt our infrastructure.
  • Reverse-engineer or tamper with the web application source code or API endpoints.

5 Accounts, Quotas & Subscriptions

Guest users and registered Free account holders are subject to upload size and batch processing limits. Pro subscription members receive elevated file limits and access to AI tools. We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate our Acceptable Use Policy or engage in fraudulent activity.

6 Disclaimer of Warranties & Limitation of Liability

The PDF Lab and all included tools are provided on an "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE" basis without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied.

In no event shall The PDF Lab, its operators, or affiliates be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages resulting from the use of, or inability to use, the service or for loss of data.

7 Modifications to Terms

We reserve the right to update or modify these Terms at any time without prior notice. The updated version will be posted on this page with a revised "Effective Date". Continued use of the website after modifications constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
